Amanda Brugel

(February 27th, 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on the part of Montreal known as the West Island. Many people who don't know they mistakenly believe they are on the West Island extends westward from Montreal. It is actually this is not the case. West Island includes everything westward of Montreal, including the town of Lachine. Many times, it is credited as the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay in the city was brief. Brugel grew up in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. She had a dream to become an elite dancer, however due to a rapid growth spurt she outgrew all of her dancing partners. According to an article by Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was six feet and one inch tall. After I outgrew the males in my group, I decided to quit. Dancers who have been in the past often switch to acting, and Brugel wasn't an exception. An instructor in drama at her high school helped push Bruce in her direction that she required. Her teacher advised her to audition in the role of Anne in their annual school production. She threw herself into it and ended up playing the leading role in Anne of Green Gables. This led to an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and graduated with A Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Since then, Brugel has been performing in over 60 shows in smaller and big ones. She received the greatest attention when she was cast in her part as Rita for the show that won awards. series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian on the Season 1 Cast of the show and only seen occasionally was the sole Canadian.
